I thought I’d never go back to school again after graduation. However, life has brought me to enrol in animal acupuncture next year.
My intelligence is probably above average, though I was never one to excel at course work or exams. I had to fight tooth and nail to get every single mark. I envy students who could remember and understand things just by going to lectures alone.
All the stuff that we were told to cram into our brains became vague after graduation. The knowledge only started to solidify after I entered the workforce and applying them. When I have to explain things to clients, using layman’s terms and visual aids, it helped me internalize the knowledge much better.
While I am looking forward to learning acupuncture, there is a sense of trepidation about the prospect of being a student again. It’s been years since I was in a structured class setting, learning things in a pre- determined time frame and syllabus. Not to mention I will be trying to understand and operate from a framework that is totally different from my original training in the Western medical system.
I created this blog primarily as a study aid for myself. It will be part journal, part summary and perhaps some random thoughts on what I learn throughout my acupuncture course. After all, they say you don’t really know something unless you can explain it to someone else.
Wish me luck : P
